Iran has become a member of the IAF

Tehran- April 13, 2016 – the memorandum of understanding was signed by Claudio Marenzi, President of Sistema Moda Italia (SMI) and Abolghasem Agha Hosein Shirazy, President of Tehran Garment Union (TGU) on behalf of SMI and TGU. This MoU was signed in the presence of Matteo Renzi, Italian Prime Minister, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Heads of Iran and Italy Chambers of commerce of and other official delegation.


Italy became the first European country to take steps to build a stronger presence in Iran following the lifting of Western sanctions. The two countries signed an agreement during a two-day visit by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi with a delegation of business leaders to increase trade between Italy and Iran and reinforce industrial cooperation.

Sistema Moda Italia and Tehran Garment Union recognizing the opportunity for the Textile and Fashion Industries of Iran and Italy to engage in enhanced trade and industrial Cooperation, based on mutual complementarities in the Textile and Fashion Industries of the two Countries, agree to the following provisions.


TGU and SMI shall make efforts to promote bilateral trade and industrial Cooperation in the Textile and Fashion sector between the two Countries, by:

  • sharing experiences and knowledge in order to create and develop Textile and Fashion Industries’ internalization process between the two Countries;
  • actively cooperating to provide the relevant information to the promotion of bilateral trade and industrial Cooperation;
  • cooperating to identify Italian and Iranian partners in order to boost import and export business;
  • facilitating and supporting relations between SMI members’ and TGU members’ in order to encourage them to make connections
  • Cooperating to provide support for the Parties presence in the two Countries, according to the two Countries law.
  • Prior written consent of the Parties before proceeding, introducing SMI and TGU as partners in business context


TGU and SMI are very pleased with the signing of this MoU. This would not happen without IAF ‘s support and assistance.
